Acupuncture induces a strong anti-inflammatory response in the body and increases blood flow to compromised tissues, muscles, joints, and organs. Studies show that the body also releases endorphins, serotonin, and dopamine in response to acupuncture. This accounts for the relaxation and stress-relieving effects of the treatments. In essence, acupuncture stimulates the body to heal itself.

Cupping Therapy

Ever since Olympic swimmer Michael Phelps was spotted (no pun intended) at the 2016 Rio Olympics with cupping marks all over his back and shoulders, there has been a great deal of interest in this therapeutic procedure.

Cupping therapy is another highly effective technique of Traditional Chinese Medicine that is sometimes included in a treatment plan. With cupping therapy, a vacuum is created inside a glass ball or “cup” and the cup is then applied to the skin. This increases local blood circulation tremendously and stimulates the body’s healing response.

Cupping is included in all Acupuncture treatments.

What to expect

Dr. Sun will talk with you about your health condition, concerns or goals, and create a treatment plan. He will then gently insert fine, sterile acupuncture needles through your skin to specific points on your body based on your condition. When the needles are placed, you may feel heaviness, tingling, warmth or other sensations at the acupuncture points or other areas of your body. The needles are usually left in place for 45 to 60 minutes

Michael Sun, DC, LAc

CHIROPRACTOR AND ACUPUNCTURIST

At a young age, Dr. Sun already knew he wanted to be in the health field where his empathetic and caring nature would matter most. The health community was the only field he would have greater access to people in need. Believing we should heal the body through natural means as a whole. Dr. Sun attended and graduated Los Angeles Chiropractic College in 2006 and SCUHS for acupuncture in 2008. It is also Dr. Sun’s belief that by integrating Western and Eastern medicines we are able to attain a better balance and improve patient treatment outcome. Integration will be the future and Dr. Sun feels grateful to be apart of that future
